Online Pre-License Course
This course is required for individuals 18 years of age and older with a valid Class D learner permit that includes their photo, who want to apply for a full New York Driver’s License.

This course provides the knowledge and skills needed for safe, responsible driving. Taking the course online is the most convenient way to fulfill NY state requirements for first time drivers to schedule their road test at the DMV.

The New York 5-Hour Online Pre-Licensing Course gives new drivers the skills and knowledge they need to be safe and responsible drivers. Students of this course will learn defensive driving skills, New York traffic laws, rules of the road, and much more!

This course is 100% online with no in-person requirements and meets the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV) requirements for pre-licensing. Successful completion of this course will be reported electronically to the NYSDMV within 48 hours of completion. Scheduling a road test is dependent upon the New York State DMV receiving notification of successful course completion from American Safety Inc.
